Welcome to Key Stage 1 & 2 at St Luke's Primary and Nursery
At St Luke's Primary and Nursery, we are committed to providing a robust and enriching curriculum that fosters a lifelong love of learning among our pupils. Our Key Stage 1 and 2 curriculum is designed to build a strong foundation in core academic areas while also encouraging personal growth and development. We understand the importance of these formative years in setting the stage for future academic and personal success.
Our curriculum is broad and balanced, ensuring that each child receives a well-rounded education that meets all statutory requirements of the UK National Curriculum. We focus on core subjects such as English, Mathematics, and Science, as well as offering a wide range of opportunities in the arts, humanities, and physical education. This approach not only enhances academic skills but also promotes physical health and fosters creative and critical thinking abilities.
At St Luke's, we also emphasise the importance of personal development. Our school environment promotes values such as respect, responsibility, and resilience, which are integral to personal and academic growth. We encourage our students to become active participants in their learning and to take pride in their achievements. Our dedicated staff are committed to supporting each child to ensure they thrive both in and out of the classroom.

French
At St Luke’s, we aim to equip pupils for their future through a well sequenced French curriculum enabling pupils to develop the knowledge, skills and attitudes needed for their present and their future. We aim for readiness. Through delivering high quality French lessons, we encourage pupils to develop a broader interest in and understanding of French language and cultures from French speaking countries. We aim to provide purposeful learning opportunities to speak with increasing confidence in school, on trips and on visits abroad. By the time pupils leave St Luke’s, they are able to listen, speak, read and write in French so they are more than prepared to continue their MFL at secondary school.
